Lanz is a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He is a Kevesi Human with traits of a Machina. He is an ally of Noah, who wields a Shieldblade. He starts as the Heavy Guard class. Lanz has been childhood friends with Noah and Eunie, and he grew up willing to protect his friends at any cost, even his own life. Similar to Reyn, he is reckless, unintelligent, and frequently acts without thinking (which often causes friction between him and Taion), but is far more abrasive in temperament than Reyn and slower to warm up to others. That being said, it is noted that he is remarkably supportive towards people he recognizes as being younger or more emotionally fragile than himself. Lanz makes use of his large physique by his Shieldblade that also functions as both a giant shield and a mountable gatling gun. His initial class is Heavy Guard. In a Chain Attack, Lanz starts with 15 TP by default. His Chain Art is Tyrant Wave, which increases Defender aggro by 30-50% (depending on his level) in addition to granting Attack Up to all allies upon completing his order. Lanz starts at Rank 5 in his initial Heavy Guard class when in the player's party for the first time. Lanz's Chain Order portrait is similar to Sol Badguy's official art in Guilty Gear Xrd and Strive. Additionally, Lanz's Chain Art Tyrant Wave is similar in name to Sol's Overdrive attack: Tyrant Rave.
