tsuchinoko

Tropidechis rotundus

an old illustration of a tsuchinoko
common names tsuchinoko,
bee snake,
round thang
lifespan 10-15 years
full-grown size 1.5"
diet mostly insectivorous
habitat warmer climates,
common in central teres
can you eat it? no; toxic and just tastes bad

these strange rotund beasts are a locally beloved symbol of trickery, as in older legends they were known to speak but only in lies. current day research has proven this is (most likely) untrue as they don't posess the necessary organs to produce speech. others have claimed to see them perform "sick double jumps" midair, but this seems highly unlikely as well. they can jump surprisingly high though, most likely due to muscle mass in their middle section.
