kurumi

a gentle person with a bit of a downer demeanor. they feel a bit lackluster compared to their friends and family, not having a storied history or some kind of immense power... but their heart is kind and they're very skilled at anything they do. it just takes a bit of encouragement for them to see it themself. they took on a job as a tailor in one of the major shrine-cities of teres and have made quite a name for themself as the best one around, offering their services and teaching for cheap. they often leave notes around their house with reminders of things like this so that they don't forget that yes, they are loved and appreciated for who they are!

they have the innate ability to neutralize poison with their own blood. it doesn't come up in daily life, really, because poisoning is not a common occurance to them. shouldn't we be happy about that, though?! it's an incredible ability really, but because it's so useless in day-to-day living, they do feel a bit useless. but really, don't you think it's fine to not worry about that...?

kuu and their siblings were made by an alchemist centuries ago, a strange person who was born with characteristics unlike any beastkin before them. the person wanted a family, one with similar features, one where they wouldn't be exiled for their strangeness, and so they set out to make one. literally, making them with their own two hands out of alchemical reagents and... parts... that they had gathered. eventually, this cold parental figure passed on, but the siblings never did. they lived onwards, into the distant future...

personality

• self-conscious - to a detrimental extent, surely... they worry, and worry more, always downplaying their own achievements, fretting over things no one else notices, selling themself short...
• patient - they feel that since they command patience from others for their shortcomings, the least they can do is extend that same courtesy to others -- they really don't know how much that just isn't the case though, there's no commanding being done!
• funny - in a bit of a subtle, understated way... but their comedic timing is absolutely unrivaled, especially among their siblings
• passionate - they get bummed out for sure, but they always give it their all no matter what. after all, if you're doing something, do it with all you've got, right?
• loving - so, so much, and just as lovable in return; it comes naturally to them, to be warm and kind and friendly to all they meet, and everyone they meet wishes that kurumi would see how wonderful they really are

design notes

• they are fat! they have sort of medium-sized breasts, and lots of stretch marks
• their hair is styled in thick twists with beads, and they like to put hair accessories of various kinds in too - clips, pins, hats, hairbands...
• they have round, big eyes and thick eyelashes, and sharp teeth that they're a little bit shy about
• they don't have the wings typical of manticores, but rather some wing-shaped birthmarks on their back
• their fashion sense is mostly centered around simple shapes, soft materials, soft colours, patchwork patterns, and flowers; they usually wear long sleeves and bottoms, but short ones aren't out of the question

trivia

• they have dpd
• they're unparalleled when it comes to handsewing small details and complicated designs!
• they're immune to toxins, but not clueless - they can feel something happening when it enters their body, but it quickly fizzles off
• the aforementioned immunity means, though, that they don't feel the effects of things like drinking alcohol... which they don't really mind, but they often wonder what it would feel like
• they're very good at video editing too, often uploading highlights and compilations from their favourite online gamer streams
