mirjam estiels

born in a garden, found in a cave, a warm loving home is all that she craves. well, really, it's more that she was found unconscious and alone in an abandoned mine shaft... but the specifics aren't important. these days, she often gets scolded by her father for getting too ahead of herself - she needs to calm down, stop training, and just be a child. but this is what she was made for, protecting people... it's hard to go against that instinct.

mirjam is an upbeat child with fantastical ideas of heroes and adventure, things she got from her father's books. she wants to be like that someday, helping people and saving lives, but to her, "someday" can't come soon enough. she mostly just helps salem around the shop, but goodness, she wants to go out and explore, to train, to prevail...! but there's nothing really to prevail over right now, in this time of peace. the best part of her week is going to the mines with salem to get more materials. you never know if a monster could be lurking nearby...

she has the unique talent of being able to sense the exact location of any living creature within 10 meters of her. however, being a child, she doesn't really care about this. it also can't detect where walls are, and she can only use it while focusing... so it's got its drawbacks for sure. she hasn't had to use it for too long, but it'll probably give her a headache if she keeps going for too long.

personality

• friendly - she loves to chat with anyone she comes across, often startling passers-by with sudden greetings and compliments
• bright - it's hard to stay in a bad mood around her, the little ball of sunshine and good attitude that she is
• single-minded - she tends to obsess over the things she likes, having trouble pulling herself away from them both in thought and action
• hopeful - she's boisterous and optimistic, but even when she's feeling down, she always has hope that things will improve
• chivalrous - as much as a preteen can be, not really having the historical context of it... but she loves to hold doors open for people, escort small animals out of harms way, carry things for people -- yknow, knightly things

design notes

• she has a lazy eye; her left eye, which is on your right when facing her! it doesn't bug her too much these days
• her eyebrows are thick, round, short
• her hair is layered and flips out a lot at the back, but is rather straight in the front; there are little leaves and petals sprouting out it, too!
• her legs are digitigrade and her tail has a pink tulip at the end, matching her hair colour
• she likes to wear fancy, frilly dresses, lots of layers, all with very strict colour coordination
