kaminari no kami nari mono

the god of electricity, lightning incarnate, hailing from another time and another place. she currently likes sleeping and slacking off, but it's not like she dislikes her role as a god. just likes the freedom of being able to sleep, that's all. she likes playing games, reading books, watching what's left on TV, listening to what's left on the radio. she has a suitably bright and magnetic personality for being what she is, easily making friends and bringing people out of their shells. she has elected to stay withdrawn into her own shell for the most part though, bitterness towards strangers never far from her mind. she tries to not let it get to her, but some things really are impossible to let go of. she is very clever and quick witted though, often being able to come up with solutions to things before anyone else even realized a solution was needed, but never taking the credit.

countless years ago, more than anyone can imagine, naru (though her name was something else then, but she can't be bothered to remember) set out to try and figure out a way to save the world she lived in. cracks were forming in the ground, large segments floating into the sky. while nothing was fundamentally wrong aside from that - everything still functioned as it should, just... somewhere else - people were certainly not happy about it happening. and naru, ever one to solve problems, wanted to do what she could. she heard talk of a small village where another crack had started to form, and went on her way to see. wary of outsiders who might come to judge them or make the crack worse, they denied her entry at first. unable to take no for an answer, naru did all that she could to prove herself trustworthy; from small errands to fending off beasts from the village outskirts, if someone asked, she would do it. they did let her in, somewhat reluctantly though. however, the cause of the cracks was watching all the while with a strange, sick sense of humour.

no sooner did naru set foot near the crack did it burst open, twisted voices laughing and mocking both her and the villagers. the mayor of the village cried that they had been right about her, about all outsiders, her arrival spelling doom for us all! and with that, they pushed her from the edge into the newly opened wound. as she fell, she was swallowed up by something, something bigger than the world, something more kind and more powerful but more pitiful than anything else. as she fell, as she was swallowed, as she turned and turned and turned, she turned again into something new. in a process unbeknownst to anyone, she became pure lightning forevermore.

personality

• playful - she needs 20-60 minutes of playtime daily, just as any other weird little cat thing does! though she often gets much more, since it's all she ever seems to do
• tired - goodness, is she ever! being a god is hard, y'know!
• wary - who can blame her? after she had been shut out, thrown in a pit, killed, eaten, torn from her life, all for who-knows-what-reason... it's a little hard to put yourself in the hands of others after that, so she shut herself away
• creative - all gods embody and share some form of art and creation, but naru is a pathfinder in her own fields, often creating new techniques and just sort of... plink! dropping them into peoples' laps anonymously
• selfless - if there's one surprise about her, it's that she never gave up on the idea of helping others, no matter how many times it's hurt her

design notes

• her appearance is rather fluid, being that she's a god and can change her body at will; the wings don't work though, they're just cute
• she tends to wear oversized shirts and sweaters that cover her hands and thighs
• her eyes can't change colour despite what it says above; they resemble traffic lights in some way or another...
• she is small, a bit stocky, and has a flat chest
• she usually has a smug, tired smile on her face - her expressions tend to appear colder than she intends

trivia

• she has complete control of all electricity on teres, feeling it as an extension of her body and mind; it used to be quite itchy every time something new was turned on or off anywhere in the world, but now she's used to it
• she doesn't technically have organs anymore. well maybe, but it's complicated and situational...
• she was deeply traumatized by the events of her death and ascension to godhood, and to her, unwanted expectations are just something further thrown on her against her will, but one that she can run from, not confront
• her full name roughly translates to 'one who is to be the god of thunder'
• she may be the only living person in the world who was around since before teres was... well, teres
